When collecting anime PVC figurines, be wary because there are lots of fakes on the market today. I first encountered fakes with the blind-box figures of Naruto and Final Fantasy, which are available almost everywhere here in the Philippines. I even bought a Cloud Strife (Kingdom Hearts ver.) at the usual price (350, common for authentic figs) and then realized a few days later the damn thing is fake. (Will cover this further in a later article)
I thought the piracy stops there, but no… even the larger figures are being copied. I am wary of the Final Fantasy Advent Children figures that are spread across the markets. At well-known department stores, such as SM, a typical advent children fig costs 2,000 php or more, but some stores sell them for 1600!
To my shock, I also heard rumors that Kotobukiya figures are now being bootlegged, and that some are available in Divisoria (a seedy marketplace, but you can get almost anything from there). Furthermore, I read this article

and amongst the items there was the DOA Kasumi fig I was planning to buy. *GASP*
So I’m just telling you to be careful so you don’t get ripped off.
